Albert Adrià

Chef at Enigma* (Barcelona, Spain)

It has been a while since he stopped being just Ferran Adrià's little brother to become one of the most influential people in the world of gastronomy.

Albert Adrià (L’Hospitalet del Llobregat, 1969) is considered one of the most influential people in the world of gastronomy. He worked at elBulli from 1985 to 2008, in confectionery and as head of creativity. He joined the elBullifoundation's board of trustees in 2013.

In 2006, before leaving the Cala Montjoi restaurant, he opened the Inopia Classic Bar in Barcelona to pioneer the “gastrobar” concept. He also opened as many as seven restaurants in Barcelona between 2011 and 2017 (41º, Tickets, Pakta, Bodega 1900, Niño Viejo, Hoja Santa and Enigma) as a global project of different gastronomy concepts known as elBarri, which dissolved years later.

After signing up a creative alliance alongside Ferran Adrià and Le Cirque du Soleil for the Heart Ibiza project, he opened 50 Days by Albert Adrià in London, a pop-up restaurant at the 5-star Hotel GL Café Royal, which later became Cakes & Bubbles, a sweet restaurant specialising in confectionery and sparkling wines. In 2019 he opened Mercado Little Spain in New York in association with José Andrés.

In 2022 he reopened his restaurant Enigma, which quickly earned a Michelin star again.
