Presentation

The new global framework for conservation of marine biodiversity

In this talk, Duarte will be describing the new biodiversity objectives for the ocean and the challenges involved in achieving them.

The Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, which sets biodiversity objectives for this decade, has set itself the goal of arresting the loss of biodiversity, and restoring 30% of degraded habitats by the year 2030.

This agreement, considered the Paris Agreement for biodiversity, sets some extremely ambitious targets in a change of paradigm, including one based on conservation and another focusing on the regeneration of oceans.
